The Adult Social Care Digital Transformation Fund aims to ensure 80% of CQC-registered providers, and over 80% of people in receipt of care, have a digital social care record by March 2024. This will mean hundreds of thousands more people will experience higher quality, safer and more personalised care as a result.

If you are registered for 24 or less beds, or you provide home care (domiciliary care)  you can claim £1650 towards the costs of implementing a Digital Social Care Record from an Assured Supplier.

If you have 25 or more registered beds, you can claim £70 per bed towards the costs of implementing a Digital Social Care Record from an assured supplier.  ie: if you are registered for 50 beds, you can claim 50 x £70 = £3500

What is the grant to be used for?

The purpose of this grant is to provide financial support to purchase a digital social care

record from the assured suppliers- Assured Suppliers List

Q  What is the assured suppliers list?

Digital Social Care Record suppliers have been assured by the NHS Transformation Directorate in NHS England. They have been assured against the Digital Social Care Records Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) core requirements.

You can find out about the core requirements here.

Q  Is there an easy way to compare suppliers and their offer?

Yes, there is a really useful comparison table which you can access here: Supplier Comparison

Q  My preferred DSCR supplier is not on the assured supplier list. Can I still get the grant?

No, you will not be eligible for the grant if your supplier is not on the assured supplier list.

Q  I have 4 care homes, can I apply for a grant for all of them?

Yes, providing they are all individually registered with CQC

Q  What happens after I apply for the grant?

A  An organisation applying for a DSCR grant will be informed if they have been successful in getting a grant prior to placing an order for the DSCR system.

Q  If my grant application is successful, when will I get the funds?

The grant will only be payable on receipt of a copy of your first invoice for the assured DSCR. The invoice for the system needs to be dated on or after 1st April 2023 and by 31st March 2024.

The supplier invoice should be the first one that you receive on implementing the system.  As this is likely to be a monthly license fee, it is not necessary for it to be for the amount of the grant that you qualify for.

Q  I have already started the process. Will I still be able to get the grant?

The start date for the grant payment is 1ˢᵗ September 2022. For example, if your invoice date is 31ˢᵗ August 2022, you would NOT be eligible to receive the grant. If your invoice is dated 1ˢᵗ September 2022 or later, you would be eligible to receive the grant.

Q  What is the minimum connectivity infrastructure required by care homes to implement DSCRs?

You need to have internet connectivity / suitable mobile reception as a minimum. If you want to check your level of digital maturity, including connectivity, complete our Digital Maturity Survey here  You will receive a useful report with helpful tips and recommendations on how to make improvements.

Q  Can I get help with completing my grant application form?

Yes, Sussex Digital In Reach Team have produced a template application you can use. If you still need help, you can arrange a meeting with one of the team by emailing nada@westsussexpartnersincare.org

Q  Implementing DSCR is very costly. What is my return on investment?

Some suppliers offer their basic system at no cost at all and for others, costs will vary. It is worth discussing your options with the supplier and it is always worth trying bargaining for a better deal.

Each care setting will be different, but you will be saving a substantial amount of money on your printing costs and management time. In our template application form, we used real life examples of savings in time and printing.
